behind the bottle
the "for-benefit" company
What a B Corp is and why we're proud to be one.

A lot has been said lately of the "Triple-Bottom Line" business: the business that balances its profit motive with the interest of the environment and our social condition. Wouldn't it be better if instead of trading off profits and responsibility there was a new kind of business whose goals were to actually do good through its business? And wouldn't it be nice to be able to compare companies like this?
There is a new type of corporation that is doing exactly this, the B Corporation, and method is one of them. The B Corp vision is simple yet ambitious: to create a new sector of the economy that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. B Corps are unlike traditional responsible businesses because they meet comprehensive, transparent standards and legally integrate stakeholder interests into their corporate governance.
B Corps' legal structure expands corporate responsibility, and in method's case, makes legally binding many of the commitments we make to social and environmental benefit. It allows consumers to evaluate and support businesses that align with their values through an online registry of all B Corps and their ratings.
Method is proud to be a Founding B Corporation, which means we were among the first crop of businesses to change our corporate structure to institutionalize our commitments to people and the environment.
You can view method's B Report here. It is essentially method's sustainability report, visible online and comparable to a host of other responsible businesses. We invite you to take a look and let us know what you think.
